Welcome to Kirk Hammerton Nursery School
We are a community nursery school, working with you to provide a nurturing and stimulating foundation for your child. Our curriculum is play based and children have full access to our inside and outdoor facilities during every session – with their learning being supported by a high ratio of adults to children. We employ five highly trained staff (all Level 3 or above) and a qualified sports coach specialising in early years play. Our Play Leader is Helen Herbert and our pre-school is run by Alison Fieldhouse, a qualified primary school teacher. All staff have a paediatric first aid qualification and are trained in basic Makaton sign language. We have a large open plan playroom equipped with high quality resources. Children are able to choose from a large range of activities available (Singing, dancing, sand and water play, dressing up, role play, painting and crafts, clay and play dough, cooking, puzzles, games, stories, musical instruments, computer and much more). We have a large fenced newly refurbished play area and access to playing fields and Kirk Hammerton school play facilities and wildlife area. We often go on local walks visiting the village allotments, farms and the wonderful countryside which surrounds the playgroup.
